BRAND EXPERIENCE FOR A CONCEPT BAKERY

Chirps

BRAND AND IDENTITY EXPERIENCE FOR A CONCEPT BAKERY

Through Chirps, I chose to experiment with making sustainable food sources attractive and fun. As a concept, Chirps is a cricket flour-based bakery, providing environmentally friendly and healthier cupcake options. I focused on balancing friendly, warm, and exciting visuals with scientific and controlled elements.

By allowing users the opportunity to design their own cupcakes, I offered a unique interactive experience. Inspired by children’s books with mix and match pages, I designed a menu that creates a delightful and gamified experience.

To balance a carefree look, with a more scientific one, I illustrated the cupcake pieces for an additional sense of whimsy. I sketched each element dozens of times until one felt visually balanced. Then, I tweaked the elements digitally and contrasted them with harsh lines and strong typography. Similarly, I created a color palette with a mix of light, airy colors and striking, intense ones.

I chose to use ITC Franklin Gothic because the bold, condensed type strikes a strong visual presence, providing an anchor for the free flowing illustrations. For body copy I chose Glypha LT; the light slab serifs refer to lines featured in the poster and scientific diagraming. The juxtaposition of these contrasting typefaces enhances the visual style of the brand.
